Jose Godoy, suspect in a burglary case is arrested for violation of probation and obstructing.

On 1/16/2014, a deputy was dispatched to Friedman Brothers on Santa Rosa Avenue regarding a burglary that occurred at the business. While taking the report the deputy positively identified the suspect in the burglary as Jose Godoy, 24 years old from Santa Rosa. Godoy was seen on video tape stealing a $60.00 dollar blow torch, then refusing to stop when contacted by an employee of Friedman’s. Godoy was then seen leaving the area in his known vehicle at a high rate of speed. There were four other subjects with Godoy when he did the burglary.

On 1/24/2014 at approximately 8:30 pm, the same deputy that took the burglary report on 1/16/2014 observed Jose Godoy driving northbound on Santa Rosa Avenue. By the time the deputy caught up to Godoy to initiate the traffic stop they were at the rear of 1024 Bellevue Avenue in an apartment complex. The purpose of the traffic stop and the contact of Godoy was to obtain a statement from Godoy and investigate the burglary that he was involved in on 1/16/2014.

After stopping the vehicle several subjects exited the vehicle and were uncooperative. Godoy who was driving refused to cooperate with the deputy and told the subjects he was with to start videotaping the incident. Godoy constantly berated the deputy and yelled profanities and started to walk away. Godoy was also yelling at people in the apartment complex to video the incident. The deputy explained that he just wanted to talk to him about the burglary and Godoy continued to be verbally aggressive then turned and walked toward the deputy. The deputy then called for assistance on his radio for other deputies since several people were now out in the complex yelling at the deputy and becoming aggressive. The deputy then placed Godoy in handcuffs where he was arrested for a Violation of probation and Delaying an investigation.

Godoy did not admit to the burglary even though he was seen on videotape committing the crime. Godoy was subsequently booked into the Sonoma County jail on the above charges.
