Advisory

Follow up informatin regarding the recent deaths of April Veraghen and her son Damien Veraghen.

The Brown County Chief Medical Examiner, Al Klimek, has released his preliminary autopsy results regarding the recent deaths of April L. Veraghen, 04/25/1980 and her son Damien D. Veraghen.

Following the autopsy and scene investigation, the following is the suspected cause and manner of death for each of these individuals:

Damian Veraghen died as the result of manual suffocation. It is suspected that he was medicated prior to the suffocation but this will be confirmed through toxicology. The manner of death will be homicide.

We suspect that April Veraghen died as the result on a combination of prescription medication toxicity and hypoxia due to suffocation. This is to be considered a self-inflicted act therefore will be ruled as a suicide.

There will be no further information available today. Please refrain from calling the Shift Commander’s desk for follow up questions. A public information officer will be available for comment on 1-24-14 at 10:30am in the lobby of the Green Bay Police Department.
