The driver of the striking vehicle from Glen Burnie, was not injured.

Injuries/Condition: Admitted to Shock Trauma in Serious Condition



On Saturday, January 18th at 5:50 p.m., Pedestrian #1 was attempting to cross Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard in a west to east direction at the intersection with Ferndale Road. As Pedestrian #1 attempted to cross the northbound lane of Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard, he walked out in front of Vehicle #1. The driver of Vehicle #1 braked and swerved to the left in an effort to avoid Pedestrian #1, but was unable to avoid hitting him. On impact, Pedestrian #1 rotated up onto the hood and windshield of Vehicle #1 before coming to rest in the roadway.

At the time of this collision Pedestrian #1 was crossing in the marked crosswalk while wearing dark clothing. Pedestrian #1 was crossing against the traffic signal and functioning pedestrian controls that would have been displaying the, “Don’t Walk” signal.

As a result of the collision, Pedestrian #1 sustained extensive leg and facial injuries, now believed to be non-life threatening. He was transported to Shock Trauma where he was admitted.

It was confirmed the driver of Vehicle #1 had not been drinking prior to this collision. Additionally, there was no evidence to suggest excessive speed or any negligent actions on behalf of the driver of Vehicle #1 contributed to the cause of this collision.

Pedestrian #1 had been drinking prior to this collision. His alcohol usage is believed to be a contributing factor into the cause of this collision.
