Winter Weather Advisory

An arctic cold front will move southeast across the region this afternoon bringing much colder temperatures and wind chills across the region starting tonight. This will be the first in a series of arctic surges plunging southeast across the region through at least Friday, separated by areas of low pressure for Tuesday and possibly Thursday. Hazards for this week include: Extreme Cold and Low Wind Chill Temperatures Tonight through Friday, when temperatures will remain below the freezing mark of 32 degrees and wind chills bottom out at 5 to 14 degrees below zero for Tuesday night. Snow – There is a “potential” for a wind driven dry powdery snowfall of 4 to 8 inches Tuesday into Tuesday night. Your National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Winter Storm Watch for the NYC Metro Area east across Long Island and parts of Southern CT from Noon Tuesday through 6 am Wednesday. NOW is the time to prepare for a cold and snowy Tuesday, with the highest impacts occurring during the Tuesday evening rush hour with falling, blowing, and drifting snow.
