Mayor Roswarski to lift City of Lafayette Snow Emergency

This afternoon, Mayor Tony Roswarski announced that he will lift the snow emergency for the City of Lafayette at 4:00 p.m. today.

“After speaking with Dan Crowell, Street Commissioner, I feel confident in lifting the snow emergency,” said Mayor Tony Roswarski. “Our cleanup crews have been working hard, day and night.”

City of Lafayette cleanup crews will continue to work throughout the night to spread rock salt, salt brine and sand to melt the ice and increase traction on city streets. Citizens are asked to continue to keep their vehicles off of the snow routes if possible, but no longer mandatory.

“It is important that as our trucks work to remove snow and ice from the streets, drivers remain safe,” said Crowell. “Every truck has blind spots, so never assume that a snow plow operator can see you, and as always, never attempt to pass a snow plow, travel at a safe distance behind and be patient.”
