Also, be sure to check on elderly neighbors, friends, and relatives during this type of extreme weather. Frankfort currently has two warming centers. One is at the Frankfort Village Hall (432 W. Nebraska Street (815-469-2177) and the other is at the Frankfort Township building (11000 W. Lincoln Hwy (815)469-4907). Below is a link to all of the warming centers in our area. Be sure to call ahead to make sure that the warming centers are available.

Safe use of the car in cold weather

• Make sure your car is in good operating condition before sing it in extreme cold.

• Keep condensation (water) out of your gas tank by keeping the tank as full as possible.

• Maintain a storm kit in your car with items such as a cell phone and charger; blankets; extra clothing; jumper cables; a flashlight; high-calorie, non-perishable food; and matches or a lighter.

• Plan your trip carefully. If cold, snowy, or icy conditions exceed your ability or your car's ability, don't travel.

• Tell someone about your travel plans.

• Never leave the motor running in a vehicle parked in an enclosed or partially enclosed space, such as a garage.

Stay safe and warm- The Frankfort Police Department
