Large fire potential may become elevated once again Sunday and Monday due to the low Relative Humidity (RH) and locally gusty offshore winds. While wind speed is not expected to be especially strong, the extremely dry fuels will allow for an unseasonably high ignition component during peak heating hours. Expect rapid rates of spread in windy areas, especially during the day Sunday, if any new start occurred. Cooler and more humid weather will cause large fire potential to be much lower by next Wednesday or Thursday. Some light Initial Attack (IA) will be possible Sunday and Monday then little, if any, activity can be expected the rest of next week.

Drought 2014
The lack of winter rain and snowfall has resulted in current drought conditions throughout the State. Some local jurisdictions are implementing mandatory conservation orders. Reservoir levels are down significantly from where they should be on average for this time of year. Severe impacts to municipal water supplies, agriculture (plants and livestock) and firefighting capabilities are likely in store for the State over the next few months. The Governor has established a Drought Task Force to oversee the coordinate response to this event.
