On 12/20/13, the Sheriff’s Office took a missing person’s report for a 19 year old female who resides in Sonoma County. The missing person was last seen in Fremont, CA. on 12/17/13, with a 32 year old male, named William Tweedie (also known as: Newton Yorker). Tweedie was wanted out of Sonoma County for felony violation of his probation and was considered to be “armed and dangerous.”

Deputies and Detectives began to follow every lead possible to locate the missing female, which included tracking down Tweedie in hopes he would provide information of the female and her whereabouts.

Detectives worked all night and into the morning and ultimately developed information that led them to an address off Westside Road in the Guerneville/River Area. At the residence a vehicle registered to Tweedie was located.

Deputies and Detectives made personal contact with the property owner on Westside Road but he refused to cooperate with law enforcement.

Concerned for the safety of the missing female and the potential of her being abducted or in distress versus voluntarily missing was unknown.

Working off information that the missing female was inside the residence with Tweedie and the property owner, a full activation of the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office - Special Weapons and Tactics Team, complete with Hostage Negotiators and other support staff was deployed to the Westside Road residence.

Negotiators immediately established a dialogue with the property owner, which ultimately led to the surrender of William Tweedie for his felony warrant. The missing female was located inside the residence and appears unharmed.

The residence was subsequently searched and a loaded firearm was located inside.

Detectives are currently conducting interviews in an effort to provide a disposition and closure to this incident.

William John Tweedie who is a 32 year old white male from Sonoma County was arrested at the Westside Road residence on a “no-Bail” violation of probation warrant for being a felon in possession of ammunition, as well as “on-view” charges of a felon in possession of a loaded firearm and a felon in possession of ammunition.

Steven Gary Hill, a 51 year old white male from Sonoma County was arrested for knowingly aiding, harboring and concealing a felon to avoid or escape arrest.
