Jury convicts suspect of First Degree Murder in connection with the February, 2008 murder of a Burbank resident.

On Thursday afternoon, December 19, 2013, a Los Angeles Superior Court jury convicted Jorge Villalobos (47), a resident of San Gabriel, of First Degree Murder in connection with the 2008 murder of lifetime Burbank resident Glen Giles (47).

On the evening of February 25, 2008, or the early morning hours of February 26, Villalobos fatally stabbed Mr. Giles inside Giles’ Burbank home. After the attack, Mr. Giles staggered across the street where he succumbed to his injuries on a neighbor’s porch.

The Burbank Police Department conducted an investigation, which identified Jorge Villalobos as the suspect in the case. The Burbank Police Department ultimately arrested Villalobos for the murder of Mr. Giles. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office filed first-degree murder and a weapons charge against Villalobos.

The trial began in early November at the Los Angeles Superior Court in Pasadena. The jury began deliberations on Tuesday, December 17, 2012, and delivered its guilty verdict two days later. The sentencing phase is set for January 30, 2013.

The Burbank Police Department is pleased with the verdict and would like to thank the District Attorney’s office for their dedication and hard work in prosecuting the case. The Burbank Police Department would like to express its continuing condolences to the Giles’ family and hopes that Villalobos’ conviction helps to bring closure to their tragic loss.
