...MODERATE TO HIGH SURF EXPECTED ALONG SOUTHWEST CALIFORNIA
BEACHES INTO TUESDAY...

.A LONG PERIOD WEST SWELL WILL PEAK LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND
EVENING THEN GRADUALLY SUBSIDE TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY. THIS SWELL
WILL BRING ELEVATED SURF CONDITIONS TO THE AREAS BEACHES...
ESPECIALLY THOSE WITH EXPOSED WEST FACING SHORES. THIS SWELL WILL
BRING A HIGH RISK FOR DANGEROUS RIP CURRENTS AND MINOR BEACH
EROSION.

...BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH TUESDAY
AFTERNOON...

* SURF AND TIMING...SURF FROM 2 TO 4 FEET WITH LOCAL SETS TO 6
FEET WILL PEAK THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT THEN GRADUALLY
SUBSIDE ON TUESDAY. SURF WILL BE HIGHEST ON EXPOSED WEST FACING
SHORES.

* IMPACTS...STRONG RIP CURRENTS WILL MAKE FOR DANGEROUS SWIMMING
CONDITIONS. SNEAKER WAVES CAN SUDDENLY PULL PEOPLE INTO THE
OCEAN NEAR THE SURF ZONE AND ALONG JETTIES AND ROCKS...
ESPECIALLY DURING THE MORNING HIGH TIDES.
Instructions: A BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT IS ISSUED WHEN THREATS TO BEACH AND SURF ZONE SAFETY ARE EXPECTED OR OCCURRING. CAUTION SHOULD BE USED WHEN IN OR NEAR THE WATER. STAY NEAR OCCUPIED LIFEGUARD TOWERS AND NEVER SWIM ALONE. IF CAUGHT IN A RIP CURRENT...SWIM PARALLEL TO THE SHORE.

Santa Barbara County Office of Emergency Management:

In a continued effort to increase readiness and preparedness the Santa Barbara County Office of Emergency Management today hosted a full EOC level 3 activation drill. This drill was designed to test the EOC technological infrastructure and continue to familiarize EOC staff with EOC processes and procedures. This event is another in a long list of recent successes regarding EOC drills. The Office of Emergency Management will continue to look for opportunities to host events like this.
