“Heroes & Helpers” Shop Together @ Target On December 19, 2013, @ 5:30 p.m.

The Burbank Police Department, in partnership with Target, will be participating in the “Heroes and Helpers” shopping event on December 19, 2013, at Target, 1800 Empire Avenue, Burbank, 818-238-1032.

The Burbank Boys and Girls Club have identified underprivileged children who are generally forgotten, have social or economic needs, and are in need of assistance to purchase holiday gifts for their families.

Each child will receive a gift card, courtesy of Target and the Burbank Noon Rotary Club, to spend on gifts.

Children are paired with police officers to buy presents for their family members, and often need to be persuaded by the officer to purchase a present of their own.

Following the shopping spree, the kids will enjoy a meal at the police station.

The event helps to foster a strong relationship between the community and law enforcement officials – it is a very positive experience not only for the kids involved, but also for the officers.
