New Uniform Look For Ontario Police Officers

Ontario Police Officers will soon have a new look to their uniforms in the form of redesigned patches, shirt buttons and badges. The change has been made in an effort to bring a more contemporary look to the Police Uniform. The overall material and make-up of the uniform will remain the same, but the insignias which distinguish the Ontario Police Department have been redesigned.

The previous patch design, which included the historical landmark of Euclid Avenue, now reflects a more modern view of the city’s key elements and infrastructure. The patch displays some of the city’s key buildings such as the newly designed City Hall and Police Department. The American flag has been added to display national patriotism.

The Police badges have been re-colored to a pewter and chrome finish. Part of the uniform is an item known as the P-button. The P-button is used in place of shirt pocket buttons which give the uniform a more formal appearance. These have been a long standing part of the police uniform and have also been re-colored to match the new badges.

During the transition period, Ontario residents may see officers in uniforms displaying either the previous or new uniform insignias. This transition is expected to be complete shortly after the beginning of January 2014.
