Three different victims have come forward over the last two days, reporting that someone had called claiming they were a Lieutenant from either the Stockton Police Department, or the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office. The caller says the person has an outstanding red light camera ticket and has not paid it. There is a warrant for their arrest and to avoid going to jail, they must wire money to the caller. We are advising citizens to report such activity to local law enforcement authorities, as this is not a valid request.

The Stockton Police Department is encouraging citizens to call if they have information pertaining to this investigation. Callers are asked to call the Stockton Police Department at (209) 937-8377, the Investigations Unit at (209) 937-8323, or Crime Stoppers at (209) 946-0600. Callers can remain anonymous.

Citizens may also text information from their cell phones to ‘CRIMES’ (274637) and type the keyword TIPSPD and then their tip or logon to the Stockton Police Department’s Facebook page and click ‘Submit A Tip’.

If you have any information that may lead to an arrest contact Crime Stoppers. Crime Stoppers pays cash rewards up to $10,000.
