The Upper Macungie Township Police Department has an important message for you! *Thanksgiving message from Chief Colón*

Dear Residents of Upper Macungie Township,

On behalf of all of the officers and administrative staff of the Upper Macungie Township Police Department, it is my pleasure to wish you and your families the warmest of Thanksgiving blessings this holiday season. While many of us begin to daydream about second helpings of turkey and stuffing (and perhaps a slice of pumpkin pie?), it appears that our local meteorologists have different matters on their mind. It is forecasted that the busiest travel days of the year will be drenched with heavy rain as a nor’easter rolls through the region. This holiday season, be sure to make safety your top priority before you venture out on those rain-slicked Pennsylvania highways. Don't forget to pack your cell phone in addition to a phone car-charger in case you need to report an emergency. Also, check that your GPS system’s voice-guided directions are set at an adequate volume so you won’t need to take your eyes off the road. Last, but not least, be sure that you and everyone in your vehicle is seat-belted in, especially the little ones in car seats.

The Upper Macungie Township Police Department will be prepared to assist motorists and residents throughout the holiday weekend, and in addition, will be adding extra patrols to focus on impaired drivers and reduce crashes. The Thanksgiving holiday season is historically one of the heaviest traveled holidays.

Please drive safely and have a safe and happy Thanksgiving!

Edgardo A. Colón
