A coastal storm will impact the State starting tomorrow afternoon, ending Wednesday. Travel conditions will be difficult, as heavy rain, high winds and winter precipitation in the Northern counties is expected.

The latest NWS executive summary is below, with a link to the full briefing here: http://www.erh.noaa.gov/phi/briefing/packages/current_briefing.pdf

•A nor’easter will affect the region from late Tuesday November 26th through Wednesday, November 27th. Based on the latest information, the most vulnerable time for the mid-Atlantic region will be starting Tuesday afternoon and continuing into daytime Wednesday.

•Heavy rainfall is expected with rainfall amounts of two to four inches possible. Rain from this system is expected to be spread over a 12 to 18 hour period, so river flooding is not expected. However, roadway and poor draining flooding is likely, and significant rises can be expected on quicker responding streams, with minor flooding still a possibility on a few on them.

•There is a threat of icing (freezing rain) from this storm in the southern Poconos, mainly Tuesday afternoon/evening before warmer air fully moves in. Amounts would likely be around a tenth of an inch or less. A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for the southern Poconos for a combination of freezing rain and snow accumulations. Slippery conditions can be expected on untreated roads.

•Some snow is possible with this storm, especially in the higher elevations of eastern Pennsylvania and northwestern New Jersey. Snowfall totals are expected to be under 2 inches.

•Minor coastal flooding is still possible with this storm. This includes the Delaware Bay / River and the Chesapeake Bay. The high tides to watch are the ones on Wednesday.

•The timing of this storm will impact Thanksgiving holiday travel. Travel conditions will deteriorate Tuesday afternoon as strong onshore winds and rain move into the region. These conditions will persist into daytime Wednesday, improving later Wednesday night.

• Monitor NWS website for updated information.
