On November 12, 2013, Bedford Police Officer Jonathan Evans received recognition from the New York State STOP-DWI Foundation and Mothers Against Drunk Driving, in conjunction with the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services and the Governors Traffic Safety Committee, for his efforts in protecting motorists in the Town of Bedford. During the 2012 calendar year, Evans was responsible for 36 of the department’s 62 DWI arrests. Each arrest represents an averted crash and lives saved.
Bedford Police Chief William Hayes stated, “Officer Evans’ dedication to traffic enforcement has a significant effect on traffic safety in our community and he should be recognized for his life-saving efforts. I am proud to have him as part of my team and look forward to his continued success.”
