Windsor Police Investigate Residential Burglary and Attempted Sexual Assault

On November 11, 2013 at 0854 hours, a Windsor resident telephoned 911 to report an intruder in her bedroom. The 17 year old young woman, who was home alone, reported she was awoken by a sound and discovered a partially clothed young man in her bedroom.

The young man, who was not known to the victim, fled when she yelled at him to leave. She described him as a young black male wearing only a camouflage tee shirt.

Windsor Police Deputies arrived at the Anna Dr residence three minutes later at 0857 hours. A 16 year old male subject matching the description given by the victim was contacted a block away at Old Redwood Hwy and Kendal Way. He was wearing a camouflage tee shirt and blue jeans. The victim made a positive identification on the suspect as the same person who had been inside her bedroom.

It was discovered the 16 year old suspect was an AWOL Alameda County group home placement from Philo.

The 16 year old suspect was taken into custody for residential burglary and attempted sexual assault. Investigators from the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office – Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Unit are continuing the investigation.

The name of the victim is not being release because she is a minor and the victim of an attempted sexual assault. The name of the suspect is not being release be he is a minor.

The case has been referred to the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office – Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Unit for further investigation. Detective David Berges (707) 565-2185
