A Veteran’s Day Note of Gratitude. National Critical Infrastructure Security and Resilience Month. OEM Duty Officer Status

A Thank You to Santa Barbara County Veterans:

We at the Santa Barbara County Office of Emergency Management would like to honor and thank all of our residents who have served in the United States Armed Forces. We owe you a debt of gratitude that can never be adequately expressed.

The United States Department of Veterans Affairs is showing its support for veterans by beginning a Twitter campaign to honor our vets trending at: #HONORINGVETS Please help proudly and loudly proclaim our thanks and gratitude to our nation’s veterans by supporting this campaign.

You can also use #HonoringVets on your social media throughout the day to recognize the Veterans in your life.

VA's mission is to fulfill President Lincoln's promise “To care for him who shall have borne the battle, and for his widow, and his orphan” by serving and honoring the men and women who are America’s Veterans.

The Veterans Day National Ceremony is held each year on November 11th at Arlington National Cemetery . The ceremony commences precisely at 11:00 a.m. with a wreath laying at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and continues inside the Memorial Amphitheater with a parade of colors by veterans' organizations and remarks from dignitaries.

Critical Infrastructure Security and Resilience Month:

November is National Critical Infrastructure Security and Resilience Month, which recognizes the important role critical infrastructure plays in our nation’s way of life and why it is important to expand and reinforce critical infrastructure security and resilience.

The nation's critical infrastructure provides essential services that underpin American society and sustain the American way of life. Critical infrastructure supports the power we use in our homes, the water we drink, the transportation systems that get us from place to place, the bridges that connect us and the communication systems we rely on to stay in touch with friends and family.

Securing critical infrastructure and ensuring its resilience is a shared responsibility of federal, state, local, tribal, territorial and private sector partners, as well as individual citizens. Just as we all rely on critical infrastructure, we must all play an active role in keeping it strong, secure, and resilient.

This Month will focus on building awareness and understanding of the importance of critical infrastructure to America’s national security and economic prosperity as well as reaffirming the commitment to keep our critical infrastructure and our communities safe and secure. This requires a nationwide effort, with partners working together toward a common goal.
