Davis Police Department Volunteer Opportunities - City of Davis Downtown Community Host

Downtown Hosts are volunteers who provide a friendly face for our downtown community, creating a warm, vibrant, welcoming atmosphere for visitors, workers and business owners. They will be on foot throughout the downtown core area of Davis to promote downtown Davis as an exciting, friendly and safe shopping, dining and cultural destination. Hosts can help visitors to area shops, restaurants, cultural venues and historic sites while answering questions and handing out the Downtown Map & Guide.

Hosts will also act as “eyes and ears” for the Davis Police Department to control nuisance behavior, while reporting and documenting graffiti, deterring aggressive panhandling, deterring illegal bicycle and skateboarding on sidewalks, providing bike education and safety information to the public, and deterring public drinking and intoxication.

We are asking Host volunteers to work 3 to 6 hour shifts during peak times of the day on both weekends and weekdays. They will also be asked to assist during special events downtown such as, the Halloween parade, Tree Lighting ceremony and the Picnic Day Parade.

Orientation meetings will be help in late November.
