Search and Rescue operation continues in a remote area of Needles for 62 year old Greg Monroe

VICTIM: Greg Monroe, 62 years old, Stanton, Ca.
SUMMARY:
On Tuesday, October 29, 2013 Monroe left to go hunting in the New York Mountains (Needles Jurisdiction) and was expected to return home on Friday, November 1, 2013. On Sunday, November 3, 2013 Monroe’s family reported him overdue/missing to the Needles station. Needles station personnel initiated a search operation Monday morning, November 4, 2013.
Monroe’s vehicle was located by searchers in the area of the Pino Valley within the New York Mountain Range. The vehicle was discovered locked and undisturbed in a remote area west of Hwy 95/Needles, east of I-15 and north of I-40.
Volunteer Forces responded with the Command Post, equipment and personnel for the search. On
Tuesday, November 5, 2013 approximately 28 searchers, comprised of personnel from Sheriff’s SAR teams, Sheriff’s Aviation and National Park Rangers, were in the field.
On Wednesday, November 6th approximately 30 searchers, a K9, Sheriff’s Aviation and Aero Squadron are involved in the search. Several agencies responded to the mutual aid request: Kern County, Los Angeles, Orange County, National Park Service, Riverside and San Bernardino Sheriff’s Departments.
