Citywide Emergency Exercise - Message #1

This is an exercise! This is a set of directions of what you need to do during and immediately after an earthquake. In the event of a real earthquake you would be receiving information and updates through these advisories, alerts and/or through the radio station 1680 AM. This is an exercise!
• The area has experienced a major earthquake. Please remain calm. Before helping any injured or trapped person, check yourself for injuries and get first aid, if necessary.
• Use caution and examine walls, floors, doors, staircases and windows to check for damage. You can report injuries/damage/fire to your neighborhood SNAP command post.
• If you do not have a neighborhood SNAP command post, contact a SARES (Ham Radio Operator) or SNAP representative at your nearest fire station.
• Do not enter damaged buildings. No smoking or lighting candles around damaged buildings. If you smell gas or hear a hissing sound, leave immediately and report the incident.
• Expect and prepare for potential aftershocks. Any time you feel an aftershock, drop, cover and hold on. If you are safe, let friends and family know through your pre-arranged plan. Stay updated by listening to 1680 AM .
