The Frankfort Police Department will be hosting a safety trunk or treat this Saturday, October 26th in the Breidert Green Municipal lot.

This event will run from 11am-1pm. Kids can go trick or treating trunk to trunk. Local businesses and organizations will be decorating their trunks to hand out candy. The E.F. Bucko costume parade will kick off the event at 11am.

Then, stick around for the FHBA’s ghost on the green event. Kids can participate in a scavenger hunt, go on a hay ride, and enjoy free refreshments. All of the day’s activities are free and open to the public, so invite friends and family to participate!

Halloween Hours for Frankfort are on October 31st from 4-7pm.

MOTORISTS

Exercise extreme caution when driving a vehicle. Be on the alert for excited youngsters, whose vision may be obscured by masks, darting out into traffic.

Parents
• Make sure costumes are flame retardant so children aren't in danger near burning jack-o-lanterns.
• Keep costumes short to prevent trips, falls, and other bumps in the night.
• Try make-up instead of a mask. Masks can be hot and uncomfortable, and they can obstruct a child's vision, a dangerous thing when kids are crossing streets and going up and down steps.
• Make sure kids wear light colors or put reflective tape on their costumes.

Residents
• Welcome trick-or-treaters with your porch lights and any exterior lights on.
• Report any suspicious or criminal activity to your police department immediately. You can do this by calling 911 for emergencies or (815)485-2500 for a non-emergency situation.
• Do not give homemade or unwrapped treats to children.
