Newton Police advise that currently there is a medicare card scam happening in this City and surrounding cities and towns. Call is placed to resident claiming to be medicare and asks for social security number and bank information for new medicare card to be mailed out.
Never give personal information over the phone, including social security number, bank information etc. always be cautious, when speaking with unknown callers over the phone. Look into things before agreeing to them, ask questions, and if it doesn't sound right, it probably isn't.
