Stolen Urn Found & Returned To Family

On Monday, September 30, 2013, a gardener found an urn in some bushes outside an apartment building in the 800 block of South Sixth Street, in Burbank. The same day, in Glendale, a family reported to the Glendale Police Department that their vehicle had been broken into and one of the items stolen was an urn.

On Thursday, October 3, 2013, Burbank Communications Supervisor Fay Martin saw news reports about the stolen urn and remembered the call from earlier in the week when the gardener had recovered an urn.

Martin contacted the Glendale Police Department and informed the detective assigned to this case of the information she had. In addition, Martin informed the Burbank Police Department Investigations Division, who also contacted the Glendale Police Department, and confirmed that the Burbank Police Department was in possession of the urn.

Yesterday afternoon, both the Glendale Police Department and the Burbank Police Department, working together, reunited the family with the urn that contained the remains of their loved one.
