MEDIA ADVISORY - IMPD OFFICER DEATH 
Indianapolis – It is with a heavy heart that IMPD announces the death of veteran IMPD Officer Timothy (Tim) Day. Officer Day, who was off-duty at the time, suffered sudden cardiac arrest while attending a local church service. He was rushed to Methodist Hospital – IU Health in critical condition where he later died.
“IMPD has lost another fine Officer that served our community and department admirably, in one of the most dangerous and decorated units within IMPD. He will be missed by our department and this city” …“Please continue to pray for our department’s strength as we deal with these challenging times” said IMPD Chief Rick Hite.
Officer Tim Day is a 26-year veteran of IMPD and is currently assigned to Violent Crimes Unit (VCU) where he was a valued and loyal member. Funeral arraignments and more information about Officer Tim Day will be forthcoming in the coming days.
