City of Rosemead and the Temple Sheriff's Station to host Community Academy starting October 2, 2013.

The City of Rosemead and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s
Department, Temple Station, is hosting a Community Academy. Community members will have the opportunity to learn more about their local law enforcement agency.

This Academy is a 7-week program, with each class taking place each Wednesday, from October 2 through November 13, 2013. The final session will be a graduation ceremony.

The topics for the 6-week academy include a presentation by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office, a tour of the Twin Towers Custody Facility, patrol/traffic procedures, a patrol ride-a-long, graffiti/gang awareness, and drug awareness.

The Community Academy is an example of Temple Station’s continued efforts to improve its relationship with the community and to educate community members on law enforcement matters.

In addition, participants will get a chance to learn about the City of Rosemead’s departments function. There will be a different topic presented each week and those who attend will have a deeper understanding and respect for the topics presented.

For more information or to apply, please contact Mandy Wong, Public Safety Coordinator at (626) 569-2168. Applications will not be accepted after September 20, 2013 at 6:00 pm. All
applications will be screened and approved by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The program is being presented free of charge and 27 participants will be accepted.
