GRAFFITI VANDAL ARRESTED IN LA MIRADA BY NORWALK DEPUTIES

During the month of August 2013, Norwalk Station special assignment deputies assigned to patrol in unincorporated Whittier noticed a rise in graffiti on Imperial Highway between Corley Drive and Biola Avenue. This graffiti vandalism affected several businesses in both unincorporated Whittier and La Mirada. The graffiti was determined to be gang related associated with a local criminal street gang. Further, it appeared one person was responsible for most of the vandalism.

On September 5, 2013, a suspected gang member was detained by patrol deputies in La Mirada after responding to a call of a suspicious person prowling in the area. The special assignment deputies, who are familiar with the local La Mirada and Whittier gang members, responded to the location. The individual detained was determined to be responsible for several of the graffiti acts.

Christopher Ramos, an 18 year old resident of unincorporated Whittier, was arrested by the Sheriff’s Department and subsequently charged with multiple counts of vandalism by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

Anyone with information involving criminal activity is urged to contact law enforcement. Information can also be provided anonymously by calling Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS (8477); by texting the letters TIPLA plus the crime tip to CRIMES (274637); or by visiting:
