Deputy Arrested for Lewd Acts Off-Duty


On Saturday, September 7, 2013, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department received information from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department that 43-year LASD Deputy John Augustus Rose II allegedly had sex with a teen-aged female juvenile. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department's Special Victims Bureau investigated the allegation, which resulted in Rose's arrest tonight on the felony charge of Lewd Acts on a Child 14 or 15 years old (288 (c)(1) PC). He was arrested at 5:30PM at the Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center, 210 West Temple, Los Angeles, and booked at East LA Station at 6:50PM.

The charges stem from alleged incidents occurring between February and June of 2013 while Rose was off-duty. Rose is being held on $325,000 bail. Rose has been on the department for 22 years and was last assigned to the Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) Bureau. He was relieved of duty without pay today.
