Morongo Basin - Marijuana Enforcement Division serves a search warrant on Philippe Lane in Landers locating marijuana and methamphetamine

INCIDENT: Search Warrant – Plywood Marijuana Cultivation
LOCATION: 58674 Philippe Lane, Landers
SUSPECT: Manuel De Jesus Martinez, age 32 – Cultivation
SUMMARY:
On Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at approximately 9:00 a.m., the Sheriff’s Narcotics Division Marijuana Enforcement Team and deputies from the Morongo Basin Sheriff’s Station served a search warrant at 58674 Philippe Lane in Landers. The resident, Manuel De Jesus Martinez, was in the home when investigators arrived. The residence had minimal furnishings and was being utilized solely for cultivation and sales. The residence did not have electricity or propane. Basic camping equipment was being utilized for cooking and lighting.
Investigators discovered a large marijuana cultivation in the rear yard of the residence. The plants were growing within a plywood fence enclosure covered with black mesh screen. A total of 216 marijuana plants in various stages and sizes were seized. Most of the plants were mature and budding, sizes ranging from 2 to 9 feet tall. Five pounds of processed marijuana was also located. The investigation revealed this was an illegal marijuana operation, which was not in compliance with California medical marijuana laws. Officers from San Bernardino County Code Enforcement assisted with the violation of the county ordinance
Investigators also located a loaded .38 caliber revolver and approximately 2 grams of methamphetamine. Martinez was arrested, transported and booked into the Morongo Jail for Cultivation and Sales of Marijuana, Possession of Controlled Substance for Sales and being armed with a firearm while in possession of a controlled substance. The investigation will be submitted to the District Attorney for review.
