SMPD Arrests Suspect in Takeover Robbery at McDonald’s
Suspect Also Identified in Pleasanton McDonald’s Robbery

San Mateo Police made a great spot of this suspect fleeing the San Mateo robbery and arrested him. SMPD relayed this information out area-wide, and Pleasanton Police recognized the similar robbery case. Pleasanton PD has identified this suspect in their case as well. 42 year-old suspect Felix Gonzalez-Becerra of Oakland is in custody and now faces charges in San Mateo and Alameda Counties.

Monday Evening Sept 2nd, 1030pm –

The suspect forced employees into a freezer and forced one employee to open the safe at gunpoint. No one was injured, and the suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Officers sent out suspect information based on some excellent witness accounts, and shared this information with surrounding agencies.
An alert SMPD Officer spotted the suspect vehicle as it headed towards the San Mateo Bridge. Based on the suspect being described as armed with a handgun. SMPD followed the vehicle and gathered additional support for a high risk traffic stop. The vehicle was stopped on US 880 in San Leandro. The driver was detained, identified as the robbery suspect, and arrested. SMPD seized the stolen cash, the clothing worn by the suspect (a backpack and hoodie) and a replica handgun.

The suspect is Felix Jeronimo Gonzalez-Becerra, a 42 year-old resident of Oakland CA. He was ultimately booked into San Mateo County Jail for appropriate charges including Armed Robbery.

Suspect Identified in Similar Case in Pleasanton
As part of the excellent information-sharing that occurs amongst Bay Area Law Enforcement Agencies, Pleasanton Police received this case information and was able to match it to an incident that occurred on August 28th in the City of Pleasanton:

At about 3am on August 28th, a Hispanic male suspect robbed the Pimlico McDonald’s in Pleasanton. This suspect also demanded money from the safe at gunpoint, and ushered employees into the freezer. An undisclosed amount of cash was taken, and there were no injuries involved in this incident.

Based on the information and similarities from the San Mateo Case, the fact that suspect Gonzalez-Becerra has an employment connection to the Pimlico McDonald’s in Pleasanton, and other investigative information, Gonzalez-Becerra has also been identified as the suspect in the Pimlico McDonald’s robbery.

Becerra is currently being held at the San Mateo County Jail and criminal charges will be sought through the Alameda County District Attorney’s office against Becerra for committing the robbery in Pleasanton.

MEDIA: Booking photo requests for Gonzalez-Becerra should be made through the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office (pio@smcgov.org)
