Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training opportunity!

Mayor Thomas Kelaher and Toms River Office of Emergency Management Coordinator, Paul Daley are proud to announce training for the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) beginning the first week in October.

CERT training promotes a partnership between emergency services and the citizens they serve. Upon completion of training you will be better prepared to help yourself and your community in the event of an emergency.

Courses consist of nine separate 2-3 hour sessions covering:
1. DISASTER PREPAREDNESS - Prepares you for the situation
2. FIRE SAFETY - fundamentals you need to survive
3. DISASTER MEDICAL OPERATIONS I - triage and treating life threatening injuries
4. DISASTER MEDICAL OPERATIONS II - assessment, treatment and hygiene
5. LIGHT SEARCH AND RESCUE - fundamentals of operations and size up
6. TEAM ORGANIZATION - organize and deploy safely and efficiently
7. DISASTER PSYCHOLOGY - caring for yourself, your buddy, and victims
8. TERRORISM AND CERT - what it is and what to do to help yourself and your country
9. FINAL EXERCISE - hands on practical simulation

Classes begin the first week in October on Tuesday and Thursday nights from 7pm - 9pm.
