Good Work by Oakland Police Results in Multiple Arrests

Oakland, CA — On September 3, 2013 at 8:56 PM, Oakland Police officers responded to a call of a burglary in progress involving a business in the 1400 block of Webster Street. Upon arrival, officers observed broken glass. Upon further investigation, they determined that the suspect had just fled the scene. Witnesses directed the officers to a nearby location, where they arrested one adult male suspect in connection with the commercial burglary.

On September 3, 2013 at 8:04 AM, Oakland Police officers on special crime reduction assignment in the area of 40th Street and Martin Luther King, Jr. Way observed a stolen vehicle. The officers conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver in connection with the stolen vehicle and an illegal firearm in the vehicle.

On September 2, 2013 at 10:45 AM, Oakland Police officers responded to a call of a residential burglary in the 500 block of 56th Street. Upon arrival, the officers found an adult female in a stolen vehicle parked outside the residence. Witnesses provided information concerning two males who had entered the backyard. With the support of an Alameda County Sheriff’s Office canine unit, the officers were able to apprehend one of the male suspects. The female suspect, a San Leandro resident, was arrested in connection with auto theft and possession of stolen property. The adult male suspect was also arrested in connection with the burglary and possession of stolen property.

On August 31, 2013 at 1:14 AM, Oakland Police officers on a special crime reduction assignment in the area of 14th and Webster Streets observed a security guard involved in an argument with a male adult. While officers were approaching both parties, they observed the male adult drop a firearm. Officers were able to determine that the male adult was on probation and illegally in possession of a firearm. Officers arrested the male adult and recovered the firearm.

On August 30, 2013 at 8:45 PM, Oakland Police officers were dispatched to the 2900 block of Coolidge Avenue where an armed robbery had just occurred. Witnesses directed the officers to a location in the 3200 block of 35th Avenue where the officers were able to arrest the two male adult suspects in connection with the armed robbery. Officers were able to recover the loss and also an illegally possessed firearm.

On August 12, 2013 at 1:00 PM, a citizen contacted the Oakland Police Department regarding suspicious activity of two individuals in the area of Sereno Circle. Officers responded and discovered that two individuals had just burglarized a residence. Officers arrested the two males in connection with the burglary and recovered the loss.

On August 12, 2013 at 6:23 PM, an Oakland Police Problem-Solving Officer (PSO) was flagged down on the 2200 block of High Street. Witnesses reported an armed robbery was in progress and directed the officer to the location of the two suspects. A brief foot pursuit ensued and officers were able to arrest one of the suspects in connection with the armed robbery. Partial loss was recovered.

On August 12, 2013 at 6:23 PM, an Oakland Police Problem-Solving Officer (PSO) was flagged down in the 2200 block of High Street, on a report of an armed robbery. The three victims directed the officer to a nearby location, where the two suspects had last been seen. Officers were able to arrest one of the suspects in connection with three counts of armed robbery. Officers were able to recover part of the victims’ loss.

On August 6, 2013 at 4:19 AM, at 27th Avenue and International Boulevard, while stopped at a red light, an Oakland Police officer was approached by a victim who directed the officer to the suspect who had just robbed him at gunpoint. The officer was able to arrest the male adult suspect in connection with the armed robbery and recovered the victim’s loss. Officers recovered a flare gun, which the victim identified as having been used during the robbery.
