On Thursday, August 22, 2013 at approximately 3:15 am, Norwalk Station personnel responded to a hit and run collision in which a 31 year old male, pedestrian, from Downey was struck by a pickup truck on the 11600 block of Van Ruiten Street. After the collision, the involved vehicle was last seen driving northbound onto Flallon Avenue from Van Ruiten Street. The pedestrian sustained serious injuries and is still hospitalized. It is believed the involved vehicle is possibly a white, full-size, Ford pickup truck.
Due to the circumstances surrounding the collision, the driver may have not known someone had been run over.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Norwalk Station Traffic Unit, is urging the involved driver to come forward and is seeking the assistance of the public in providing information involving the collision. Residents in the area are also being requested to review any potential video surveillance that may have captured the incident or involved vehicle.
