West Lafayette Man Severely Injured in Tippecanoe County Crash

Tippecanoe County – This morning, at approximately 7:10 a.m., officers from the Indiana State Police responded to a single vehicle crash on I-65 at the 164 mile marker, in which a West Lafayette, IN, man was critically injured.

The preliminary crash investigation by Trooper Darrick Scott revealed that Daniel Kline, 24, West Lafayette, IN, was driving a 2006 Hyundai northbound on I-65 near the 164 mile marker. The Hyundai traveled off the eastside of the interstate, down a steep embankment, and rolled at least once before coming to rest on its wheels.

Kline was transported by ambulance to Indiana University Arnett Hospital in Lafayette. He sustained life threatening head and internal injuries in the crash. He was wearing a seat belt which prevented him from being ejected from the Hyundai.

This crash is still under investigation, but evidence suggest that Kline was over the .08 blood alcohol concentration limit in which a driver is consider intoxicated in Indiana.

Trooper Scott was assisted at the crash scene by Trooper Ryan Royer, Trooper Wesley Ennis, and the Dayton Volunteer Fire Department
