Multiple Ceasefire Search Warrants Served Early This Morning

Oakland, CA — In a Ceasefire operation early this morning, the Oakland Police Department and multiple law enforcement partners served ten warrants to identified violent criminal offenders with gang ties in and around the City of Oakland.

Operation Ceasefire is an on-going effort to identify and remove violent criminal offenders. Known violent criminal offenders who have chosen not to stop the violence and take the options and resources made available to them are targeted for arrest.

Chief Sean Whent stated, “Ceasefire is my number one crime strategy to reduce violent crime in our city. This program identifies the most violent criminal offenders and provides options and services to stop the violence. Ceasefire has identified violent offenders who are associated with gangs and are responsible for homicides, shootings and robberies in our city. When those individuals chose not to stop the violence and continue to participate in crime, we will find them and arrest them.”

“Today’s arrests contribute to the ongoing, sweeping effort of Ceasefire to reduce shootings and get members of our most violent gangs off our streets. We are continuing to build our Ceasefire resources and we will keep doing all we can to keep our neighborhoods safe,” Mayor Jean Quan said. “Thank you to Chief Whent, our hardworking police officers and all our law enforcement partners for bringing these criminals to justice.”

This morning’s Ceasefire sweep resulted in:
• 10 search warrants served
• 5 people arrested (so far, search continues)
• Evidence recovered

Operations will continue.

The Oakland Police Department would like to thank the following law enforcement agencies for their participation in this morning’s action: the U.S. Marshals, FBI, Alameda County Sheriff’s Office, Contra Costa County Sheriff, San Leandro PD, Fremont PD, Alameda PD, Hayward PD.

Warrants were served in the following cities: Oakland, Hayward, Fremont, and Antioch.

No photos of the Ceasefire Operation (arrestees/evidence) will be released at this time due to the fact that these investigations continue.
