Robbery Subject Nabbed by Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Parks Bureau Deputies at Jesse Owens Park, 9651 S. Western Avenue, Los Angeles

On August 15, 2013, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Parks Bureau Deputies were at the Jesse Owens Park Pool providing security when they received a call of a robbery in front of the gym at the park. The deputies responded to the scene of the robbery within minutes of the incident.
The deputies contacted the victim who said he was standing in the park with a friend when 4 male juveniles approached him. The subject one of the male juveniles questioned him, then pulled out a knife and robbed him of his cell phone.
After further investigation deputies detained the subject a male juvenile who was still in the park. The victim’s cell phone was also recovered at the scene.
The male juvenile subject was booked at South Los Angeles Station and then transported to juvenile hall for strong armed robbery.
