SAN MATEO POLICE ARREST SUSPECT IN A STABBING.
On 8-12-13 at 3:35pm, officers were dispatched to a stabbing at 51 W. 4th Avenue. On arrival, officers observed a woman lying on the ground outside an apartment on the second floor with an apparent stab wound. A male subject was standing next to the woman and was subsequently taken in to custody. A weapon was located in the immediate area and appears to be the weapon used to stab the woman. The 76 year old female victim was immediately transported to the nearest trauma center for treatment and is currently in stable condition.
It appears at this early stage of the investigation that there was a family argument just outside the apartment that led to the stabbing. It is still early on in this investigation and detectives are still actively involved with this incident which includes determining a motive for the stabbing. This is an isolated incident and as of this writing, there are no other suspects outstanding. Charges against the suspect are pending.
There is currently no photo available of the suspect at this time. Names of the involved parties are being withheld as this is an ongoing active investigation. An update will be provided when additional information becomes available.
