Rollover Sends Driver to the Hospital

Tippecanoe County-Today at approximately 11:34 a.m. on I-65 southbound near the 171 mile marker (that is just south of the State Road 26 exit near Lafayette, IN), a single vehicle crash sends the driver to a local hospital.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper Darrick Scott of the Indiana State Police at Lafayette has revealed that a maroon 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by James E. Durham Jr, 41 years old from Indianapolis, was southbound in the right lane of I-65. Witnesses stated he started to change lanes and lost control causing the Trailblazer to roll at least four times. Durham was transported to UI Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette by the Tippecanoe County EMS with critical injuries. At the time of the crash, he was not wearing a seatbelt.

At this time drugs nor alcohol are not contributing factors in the crash but tests are pending. Traffic was down to one lane for about one hour to clean up the crash scene and remove the injured. Trooper Scott was assisted by Indiana State Troopers Aaron Allen and Ben Rector. The investigation is continuing.
