SMPD Seeking the Community’s Help -
Brazen Take-Over Robbery – No Injuries – Suspects At-Large

Wednesday, August 7th – 9:50pm -

San Mateo Police Officers responded to a report of an armed, take-over style robbery of the Taco Bell Restaurant located at 500 E. 4th Ave. in San Mateo. Two suspects, described as black males in their 20s, contained several customers and staff, and robbed the restaurant at gunpoint. There were nine customers and two Taco Bell Staff in the restaurant at the time of the robbery. The suspects fled from the restaurant on foot, southbound on Claremont Street with an undisclosed amount of cash. None of the customers or staff were injured.

SMPD Officers and Detectives continue to investigate this case, and are working with allied agencies to identify any similar crimes. We are seeking the community’s help to put together details of this crime and identify the suspects responsible:

Robbery Incident -
• Occurred in the 500 block of East 4th Ave. at the Taco Bell Restaurant
• Wednesday night, August 7th at about 9:50pm
• Suspects –
o 2 Black Males in their 20s, both thin build, between 5’9 and 6’0 tall
o Both wearing “hoodies” (one black, one gray) – With white bandanas covering their faces
o Last seen fleeing on foot south on Claremont Street from 4th Avenue
o Both suspects were armed with handguns
