Does your child still need back-to-school immunizations? Don’t miss the Health Department’s special clinic Saturday

The City of Kansas City, Mo., Health Department reminds residents that it will hold a special back-to-school immunization clinic on Saturday, Aug. 10 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 2400 Troost Ave., Suite 1100. This one-time Saturday clinic is offered especially for those parents who are unable to get their children immunized during the clinic’s regular weekday hours.

Missouri school districts require that all students have been immunized or have appropriate documentation of why they are not vaccinated.

The Saturday immunization clinic is open to all school districts in Missouri. Parents or guardians need to bring a copy of their child’s shot record with them. If the child has previously had shots at the Health Department, they can get a copy of the shot record when they register.

Immunizations are free for children who have no insurance, who have limited insurance that does not cover immunization or who are eligible for Medicaid’s Vaccine For Children program.

The Health Department will also offer free tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis (Tdap) booster shots for all residents ages 11 and older at Saturday’s clinic. The department recommends that residents get a tetanus booster shot every 10 years. They should also get a one-time pertussis booster shot to ensure they are protected as they age.

More information on immunization clinic times can be found at www.kcmo.org/health or by calling the clinic at 816-513-6108.
