Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Free Basic Training – Begins September 10, 2013

Following a major disaster, fire, law, and emergency medical services will not be able to meet the demand for their services. Individuals and families will need to be self sufficient for a minimum of 3 days. CERT training can help you better understand how to be prepared and respond to a major disaster.
The FEMA developed Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) curriculum delivers emergency preparedness skills and trains students in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations.
CERT Basic Training is free to South Santa Clara County residents. High School students are welcome and will receive community service hours. To register please go to www.mhcert.com. Courses are on Tuesday evenings from 7:00-9:30 p.m. in the Morgan Hill Police Department’s EOC Training Room. The last day of class students practice their skills at a disaster simulation on Saturday, October 26th.
For more information about this training, please contact the Morgan Hill Office of Emergency Services at 776-7310 or [email protected]
