On Thursday, 25 July 2013 at 9:09 pm Police responded to multiple 9-1-1 calls for shots fired in the area of State Street and Harrison Place. Upon arrival Officers found Edwin Gonzalez, age 34 also of 101 Harrison place, apt 2 with multiple gunshot wounds to his lower extremities. The victim was transported to the Trauma Center at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital by EMS with non life threatening injuries. The victim has since been released from their care.

 

Perez-Rodriquez and Gonzalez got into a verbal dispute which became physical. During the physical dispute a handgun was produced at which time Gonzalez was shot by Perez-Rodriquez in the presence of several witnesses. Perez-Rodriquez then fled the area. Due to the diligent actions of the investigating Detectives an arrest warrant was applied for and granted by Superior Court Judge James F. Hyland who set bail at $2,000,000.00 with no 10% cash option for Reinaldo Perez-Rodriquez on the following charges Attempted Murder, Aggravated Assault with a Firearm, Unlawful Weapons Possession and Weapons Possession for an Unlawful Purpose.

 

Reinaldo Perez-Rodriguez was arrested at 2:50 pm on Friday, 26 July 2013.
