The Los Angeles Police Department, Valley Traffic Detectives are investigating a fatal traffic collision that occurred on July 25, 2013 at 5:25 p.m., on Corbin Avenue just south of Hart Street.

The collision occurred when the driver of a 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix lost control of his vehicle, driving from south bound Corbin Avenue into the oncoming north bound traffic. The driver, Daniel Magallanes, a 33-year-old male resident of Tarzana, California, was struck by a 2011 BMW 328i, driving northbound on Corbin Avenue. Another unoccupied parked vehicle was damaged in the collision.

The front seat passenger of the Pontiac Grand Prix, Sandra Elias, also of Tarzana, was 9 months pregnant. Both she and her daughter were killed as a result of injuries sustained in the collision.

The driver of the BMW was treated and released from a local hospital with minor injuries. Daniel Magallanes is currently in police custody. At this time there is no evidence drugs or alcohol were a factor in this collision.
