Mother and her two children injured in Panorama City Hit and Run Collision. Driver arrested with the help of community members.

On July 24, 2013, at approximately 8:35 p.m. Gabino Cabrera,
66- year -old resident of Van Nuys was driving a 2000 Toyota Rav 4 westbound on Chase Street approaching the intersection of Tilden Avenue when he struck three pedestrians walking northbound in a marked crosswalk. The pedestrians struck were Janeth Sejuenza, a 41 -year -old resident of Panorama City pushing her 14 -month- old daughter in a plastic child push cart accompanied by her 17 -year- old daughter.

As a result of the impact, both the 41 -year- old mother and her 17- year -old daughter were thrown to the ground. The driver did not stop and left the scene failing to render aid and exchange information as required by law.

As the vehicle continued westbound Chase Street, the child push cart still carrying the 14 -month -old was upright and lodged underneath the front bumper of the vehicle. Numerous community members chased the vehicle into a nearby shopping center parking lot where the driver was apprehended without incident.

Janeth Sejuenza and her 14 -month- old daughter sustained severe injuries. The 17 -year- old daughter sustained minor injuries. They were transported to a local hospital via rescue ambulance. All three victims are in stable condition.

Gabino Cabrera was arrested at the scene and booked for felony Hit and Run, 20001 (a) VC.
