Man Kidnapped, Robbed, and Vehicle Taken After Being Lured to a location in the City of Norwalk, LASD-Norwalk Sheriff Station
On Thursday, July 11, 2013, at 3:57 AM, Norwalk Sheriff’s Station deputies received a call from a male claiming he was the victim of a kidnapping, robbery, and vehicle theft.
Norwalk sheriff's deputies contacted the victim who told them he met two women in the city of Walnut Park earlier that morning. The victim voluntarily agreed to follow the female suspects in his vehicle as they drove to the 15400 block of Longworth Avenue, Norwalk.
Once at location, the victim was confronted by two males, one of which was armed with a handgun. The suspects demanded the victim’s personal property, tied him up, and held him at the location for a period of time. Once the suspects released the victim, they informed him his vehicle had been taken to a nearby location for him to retrieve. The victim arrived at the indicated location and his car was not there. The victim immediately contacted police.
The victim was able to lead deputies to the location where the incident occurred and the deputies immediately contained the location.
Due to the victim’s account of a weapon being used, the Special Enforcement Bureau (http://www.SEB.lasd.org) of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Dept. responded.
After verbal announcements were made by deputies, four people exited the residence. The victim identified one of the four as one of the male suspects involved. He was subsequently identified as Suspect Andrew Chavez. The other three occupants were determined to not be involved.
After a search warrant was obtained, entry was made into the residence by Special Enforcement Bureau Sheriff's Deputies. No additional suspects were located.
The other male and two female suspects remain outstanding. The victim’s vehicle was later discovered in the city of Long Beach.
38 year-old Suspect Andrew Chavez of Huntington Beach, was arrested for kidnapping, false imprisonment, robbery, and a weapons charge. He was booked at Norwalk Sheriff’s Station (http://www.Norwalk.lasd.org with a bail of $100,000.00
