(7/13/2013) A tanker fire occurred approximately 10:30 this morning on the northbound CA-2 freeway near the northbound I-5. LAFD is on scene actively fighting the fire. LAPD Northeast Area is advising residents in the surrounding communities – Atwater Village, Los Feliz, Silver Lake, Elysian Valley, and Echo Park – that there are vapor smells in the area. We are warning people in the area to avoid storm drains and manhole covers. Additionally, the bike path along the LA River south of Fletcher is temporarily closed and should be avoided.

For those planning to attend today’s Dodger’s game versus the Rockies, please plan to allow extra time and avoid the 2/5/110 Freeways directly east of Dodgers Stadium.

Avoid the LA River, bike path, and storm drains & manhole covers in the area.
