Police Request Assistance- Disappearance of 21 month old Daphne Viola Webb

The Oakland Police Department is requesting assistance from the public and from media regarding the disappearance of 21 month old Daphne Viola Webb. Anyone who saw Daphne with her father, John Webb, in the days or hours before 11:09 am on July 10, 2013 is asked to contact the Oakland Police Department Missing Persons Unit at 510-238-3352.

Background: On July 10, 2013, at 11:09 AM, the Oakland Police Department Communications Section received a call from the father, John Webb who reported that his 21-month-old daughter, Daphne Viola Webb was missing from the 1400 block of 79th Avenue.

The father stated that he drove to a store in the 1400 block of 79th Avenue with an adult family member and his 21-month-old child. When he came out of the store, the family member, who has a disability, was still in the car, but Daphne was missing.

The suspect is described as a female African American or Hispanic, 30 to 40 years old, with long black straight hair, wearing a light colored top and blue jeans was reported walking away from the area, carrying a small child.

Daphne Viola Webb is 21 months old, short black curly hair, brown eyes, medium complexion. Last seen wearing orange two-piece pajamas with pink hearts and pink sox.

The Oakland Police Department and the California Highway Patrol have initiated an Amber Alert. Police activity in the area continues as we attempt to locate the missing child.

The Oakland Police Department helicopter is assisting, along with Alameda County Sheriff’s Department, which has brought in tracking dogs. Other agencies assisting include the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Department Search & Rescue Team, FBI, BART, AC Transit, and OHA (Oakland Housing Authority).
