21 months old, short black curly hair, brown eyes, medium complected. Last seen wearing orange two-piece pajamas with pink hearts and pink sox.
Description of Suspect
The suspect is described as a female African American or Hispanic, 30 to 40 years old, with long black straight hair, wearing a light colored top and blue jeans.
Amber Alert
The Oakland Police Department and the California Highway Patrol have just initiated an Amber Alert for Daphne Viola Webb, a missing 21-month-old child who was last seen in the area of the 1400 block of 79th Avenue, wearing orange two-piece pajamas with pink hearts and pink sox. Daphne has short black curly hair, brown eyes, and a medium complexion.
Background
On July 10, 2013, at 11:09 AM, the Oakland Police Department Communications Section received a call from a father reporting that his 21-month-old daughter was missing from the 1400 block of 79th Avenue.
The father stated that he drove to a store in the 1400 block of 79th Avenue with an adult family member and his 21-month-old child. When he came out of the store, the family member, who has a disability, was still in the car, but the girl was missing.
The suspect was reported to be seen walking away from the area carrying a small child.
Police activity in the area continues as we attempt to locate the missing child. Police are on scene and canvassing the area. Investigators are currently interviewing the father and family members.
The Oakland Police Department helicopter is assisting, along with Alameda County Sheriff’s Department, which has brought in tracking dogs. Other agencies assisting include the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Department Search & Rescue Team, BART, AC Transit, and OHA (Oakland Housing Authority)
