Los Angeles: Three vehicle collision results in two deaths.

On Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at approximately 8:00 P.M, a three vehicle and three pedestrian traffic collision occurred at the intersection of Roscoe Boulevard and Tampa Avenue in the community of Reseda.

A 2007 Toyota Tacoma, pick-up truck, being driven by Pablo Castaneda, a 24-year-old resident of Canoga Park as it traveled at a high rate of speed northbound Tampa Avenue. A Ford E 350 Van, being driven by an 81-year-old male was negotiating a left turn from southbound Tampa Avenue to east Roscoe Boulevard when it was struck on the front of the van by the Tacoma. The Tacoma traveled out of control toward the northeast corner of the intersection where it struck three pedestrians on the sidewalk varying in ages from 19 to 20 years of age.

The van became disabled within the intersection due to the initial collision. Seconds later, a 2000 Nissan Maxima, being driven by a 26-year-old male, was also traveling northbound Tampa Avenue when it collided with the front of the van causing it to overturn as both vehicles came to rest just north of the intersection of Tampa Avenue and Roscoe Boulevard.

Castaneda and Jasmine Dubon, a 19-year-old pedestrian who was a resident of Northridge, suffered severe injuries and were both transported to a local hospital where they died as a result of their injuries. The other two drivers and two pedestrians suffered moderate to serious injuries and were transported to another local hospital for medical treatment.
