Community members and neighbors were Nixle alerted earlier this evening to a large presence of officers near or within the 900 block of 43rd Street. A large perimeter was established and a canine search for an armed robbery suspect ended with the safe recovery of a firearm and arrest of a suspect. Officers had been dispatched to the area on a citizen's report of an armed robbery of his person; as the first officers arrived, the suspect was observed fleeing into nearby yards.
We thank the neighborhood for their patience and understanding with road and area closures necessary to facilitate the search and arrest.
